Red runner roaches (Blatta lateralis) are highly valued as reptile food due to their excellent nutritional profile, fast movement, and ease of digestion. Rich in protein and low in fat, they provide a balanced diet for many insectivorous reptiles, supporting healthy growth and energy levels. Unlike some other feeder insects, red runners are soft-bodied, making them easier to digest, especially for juvenile or smaller reptiles. Their quick, skittering movement also stimulates natural hunting instincts, promoting mental and physical enrichment. Additionally, they breed rapidly and require minimal care, making them a convenient, cost-effective, and sustainable feeder option for reptile keepers.

The majority of our red runners are shipped in plastic deli cups with ventilated lids (large quantities of 250 or more are shipped in mesh bags depending on the size and count). When necessary, we include damp sphagnum moss for moisture, and a little food to make it through the trip. Red runners grow very quickly, and it is possible they may arrive a little bigger than initially ordered depending on how long they were in the mail. Please keep this in mind when ordering.
