This is a large isopod species and adults can reach lengths of up to 1"+.
Porcellio dilatatus isopods are very active and can be seen exploring their habit at all times of the day. Their mottled pattern will help bring your terrarium to life. They're a very hardy species, preferring moderate humidity with plenty of places to hide and decaying vegetation to forage on. They are very prolific under the optimum conditions and will establish their enclosure quickly. This species of isopod is one of the larger species in captivity and can reach lengths of up to 1 inch or more at adulthood.
Isopods prefer a diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, grains, manufactured isopod diets, and other decaying woody matter such as bark, moss and leaves.
We prefer a strong moisture gradient for this species, ranging from very damp on one end of their enclosure to bone-dry on the other.
